It's the start of a new week and spring is just around the corner! I've had several questions recently about what Olaplex is and why I think every one should try it. Does it really live up to the hype of repairing damaged hair? Well let's be honest, there's a lot of scientific information behind why this product is so great, and It's not the easiest to explain. So let's break down the big fancy words and simplify why I'm in love with it! Our hair is made up of multiple bonds, and these bonds break down when we color our hair or use heat/ thermal tools regularly. Olaplex is a 3 part system that rebuilds these broken bonds on a molecular level. This product works from INSIDE the hair strands to strengthen and repair your locks. It's not to be confused with deep conditioners which only improve the superficial condition of our hair. Basically we are getting to the root of the problem here and preventing further damage when we use this system properly.
As a stylist I think this is a great tool! Now I'm not saying that in using this system you can bleach your hair out 4 times in one day and not have ANY damage. I don't recommend putting your hair through all that chemical stress in the first place. It will however, help maintain the strength of your hair structure during a color process. I have used this treatment multiple times in my own hair to rebuild the strength and integrity. I don't feel as though my hair is frizzy and damaged after coloring it as I have in the past. I look at Olaplex as my hair insurance for breakage! When I use this product with my color services, part 1 is mixed in with the color to rebuild bonds and begin the process of preventing further damage. Part 2 is placed onto the hair after your color is rinsed out and continues to rebuild and restore any remaining broken bonds to ensure the hair is strong and healthy. Part 3 is a retail bottle (unlike parts 1 & 2 which are an add-on salon service) you can purchase to maintain lasting protection at home!
The results are noticeable not only in the texture of your hair, but the way your hair will respond to styling and color. So to wrap this up, everyone can benefit from this service. I offer stand alone treatments for my clients who want to try Olaplex without getting a color service done. Hopefully I've clarified what this product has to offer your locks and why its such a game changer for color services and the overall health of your hair.
